I’m actively seeking Ph.D. positions starting in Fall 2027 in Responsible AI, AI for Education, and Human-AI Interaction.
Hi! Iโm Pavithra ๐ฑ
I explore how to make responsible AI and how to use AI responsibly, focusing on fairness in large language models, while also studying how AI can help people think critically, communicate clearly, and make better decisions.
Currently, I work as a scientist at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, where I am advised by Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan. Previously, I worked as a researcher at TCS Research, advised by Dr. Preethu Rose Anish.
I graduated from Amrita University in 2024 with a B.Tech in Computer Science (AI specialization). During my time at university, I was actively involved in student life and mentoring, including roles at our university’s FOSS and computer science club, amFOSS, and as Google Developer Student Club lead.
Here’s what I’ve been pondering lately:
- ๐ฑ How do demographic and cultural biases show up in large language models across different languages, and how can we audit for them at scale?
- ๐ฑ What does it mean for an AI system to be genuinely fair?
- ๐ฑ How does AI assistance shape human decision-making in high-stakes settings?
- ๐ฑ How can AI help people interpret, clarify, and communicate ideas more effectively when engaging with complex or ambiguous content?
